I am an older girl with complications caused by heart worms. I hope I get better after I finish treatment. I am also blind and have glaucoma from long time lack of care. I came to sanctuary with my baby, Hope. Mom says we will both be staying here because we are special needs. My Mom loves us and we are very lucky.
Update: Lucy underwent heart worm treatment and recent check showed she is now negative. The pulmonary hypertension and cardiomegaly caused by the heart worms have also resolved. We were very happy to receive that report because she has low tolerance and little reserve for exercise and heat. She has been diagnosed with brachycephalic airway syndrome which is a common finding in pugs. She is monitored closely, especially when at play, and given short spells in the heat.
Lucy’s glaucoma has improved but she is still on three eye medications.
Update, May 2018: We consulted an eye specialist for Lucy. He does not feel that she has glaucoma. She is now just on eye meds for dry eye. She is now in foster with her daughter, Hope.
