Heidi Update

Since our last visit Heidi has had some extensive testing and has been seeing a MedVet specialist. Her resistant bladder infection got much worse. She was feeling poorly, very sedate and no appetite. Turns out she was resistant to all the antibiotics we have tried. The only alternatives were one oral med and 5 that were iv only. We tried a few of them with no good results. Of course, in the meantime, she had extensive tests and exams. She has no tumors, stones, etc, just a lot of infection with dangerous bacteria.The end game is to decrease the bad stuff so that less damaging bacteria can colonize. There has been a lot of improvement but we’re still in the battle. She is feeling a lot better…more active and eating pretty good. After all this she also starting having problems again with her rectum. She is bleeding again and is trying to prolapse. So she is back on steroids and stool softners. Poor baby has been through so much but is still as loving and affectionate as ever. She tolerates frequent rear end baths and lots of medication. Of course, this has been an expensive journey with specialists, frequent vet visits, costly tests and the meds are just out of sight!!!!If anyone would like to help with this journey, Heidi and I would really appreciate it.
