Miles came to me during the horrific 2016 flood. He was 16 years old, emaciated, blind, terribly matted and cognitively impaired yet was the stud dog for a back yard breeder. Volunteers fought hard to have the reluctant owner surrender him and I was called. And am I ever so grateful that God blessed me to care for him. He bonded with me right off!.
He was basically a terrified, neurotic little boy. He had to be touching me or he was very unsettled, just relentlessly walking in circles. I believe that of all the babies I have ever had, he needed me the most. I was definitely his comfort in this world. He was very peaceful and rested when we were touching.
We had many medical issues to face but he was a real trooper as long as he was at my side. Well, Monday of this week he had a really bad stroke. He was on his side and could not get to his feet. He had what almost looked like seizure activity with his struggle to move. I decided pretty quickly that the most loving thing to do for him was to place this special little boy in our Father’s loving arms. I will miss him so, so much. He was my little shadow. And the love and trust he had for me was so very special.
