Say hi to Houston! I found him sick and very weak close to the rescue. He could not even stand up. Emergency care found him to be emaciated, dehydrated, HW+, elevated liver enzymes and full of worms and coccidia. And he was only a pup, about one year. He was 29# and is now 40#. He is a great dog…smart, loving, playful.
Update: Houston had to have surgery and ended up spending close to a week in the hospital. He initially went to vet because it seemed his pad was damaged again and he wouldn’t walk or eat. Turns out he had a very bad fractured tooth that had to be removed. While he was under anesthesia my vet decided to try and fix the pad. The repair would just not tolerate weight bearing and the stitches tore out. He also had another, different area that had a rash. It seems he may be allergic to his own body bacteria. While his pad healed he was treated for the skin condition and finally went home with several meds. I can tell you one thing…he is truly loved by his foster moms! Lucky boy!!!!!
Update: Houston is doing very well in his foster home. He has a few furry siblings to play with and loves all the family.
