This precious girl was one of my first true rescues and ended up being my “heart” dog. She was a homeless, sick stray being abused by children…yes, children! I opened my car door and she jumped in. She was just a puppy but already was emaciated, had mange, was full of worms, anemic and ended up Heart worm positive. We worked through all her initial problems and she lived for many years in a happy, healthy state. She was the comfort dog for all the new furry residents and helped them adjust. As old age approached she developed many medical problems…severe arthritis, Cushing’s, hip dysplasia, heart problems and the list goes on. We handled each crisis together until there was nothing else to bring her comfort. Letting her go was one of the hardest things I have ever done. She will always be my heart dog and the first one I will look for at the rainbow bridge.
